When ordering DPD chlorine reagents online, first establish whether the analyser measures free chlorine or total chlorine. Similar-looking reagent names do not guarantee the same analytical method or result.
Online Reagents is backed by PMA’s chemical-manufacturing experience of more than 52 years. Send your specification online to discuss suitable supply, availability and quantity before confirming an order.
Start with the chlorine fraction
Free and total chlorine are different measurement requirements. Choose the fraction specified by the site’s monitoring procedure, rather than treating the two results as alternatives. Hach’s chlorine analysis overview describes distinct methods for these measurements.
Record the fraction exactly as shown by the instrument. Include any special programme or method designation in the enquiry.
Match the complete reagent system
A DPD measurement may depend on more than one reagent and a defined dosing sequence. Identify every required component, its concentration or specification and its package format. Changing one bottle without checking the complete method can create an unsuitable combination.
Our DPD chlorine reagents page provides the route to discuss instrument-specific supply. Compatibility should be confirmed against the actual analyser and method.
Check the range and programme
Supply the measurement range, instrument programme and reporting units. Do not select reagents solely because they mention chlorine. A low-range programme and another application may have different reagent or operating requirements.
Include sample conditions that the approved method identifies as important. Do not improvise dilution, timing or interference corrections without the relevant procedure.
Plan a controlled replacement
Record the existing reagent part numbers, consumption and bottle connection requirements. Follow the manufacturer’s changeover instructions and check performance using the site’s approved verification method. Keep a batch record so any change in results can be investigated.
Make the online enquiry specific
Send the make and model, free or total chlorine requirement, method or programme number, working range, current kit details and quantity. Ask about availability and documentation before finalising supply. For broader replacement planning, see our replacement reagents guide.
Do all online chlorine instruments use DPD?
No. Other measurement technologies exist, including amperometric systems. Establish the instrument’s measurement principle before requesting reagents. A DPD kit should not be assumed suitable for a sensor that uses a different technology.
