Ordering sulphate reagents online requires the analyser method, range and sample specification. For a turbidimetric method, the intended reaction and the sample’s existing optical properties both need attention.

Online Reagents is backed by PMA’s chemical-manufacturing experience of more than 52 years. Send your specification online to discuss suitable supply, availability and quantity before confirming an order.

Keep sulphate and sulphide separate

Sulphate and sulphide are different analytical requirements. Check the full parameter name on the instrument and existing reagent label. Similar spelling is not evidence that the same reagent or standard can be used.

Include the reporting units and range so the enquiry identifies one clear measurement task.

Understand what creates the turbidity

Some sulphate methods measure turbidity produced by a defined chemical reaction. Hach’s sulphate method information describes a barium sulphate turbidimetric approach. This is different from simply measuring the sample’s original turbidity.

Our sulphate reagents page discusses reagents and standards for online applications. Suitability remains dependent on the exact method.

Follow the blank and sample procedure

Background colour or turbidity can affect an optical measurement. Follow the instrument’s approved requirements for blanks, sample preparation and interference checks rather than improvising a correction.

Tell us about the application and any preparation used by the site. Do not assume that filtration is appropriate where it would change the required analytical fraction.

Separate analytical range from permit conditions

The working range describes the method’s measurement capability. It does not establish a discharge limit or replace the site’s permit and monitoring arrangements. Choose the required range from the monitoring task and instrument specification.

Use approved procedures to investigate an out-of-range result; do not infer a dilution method solely from a reagent label.

Provide a complete order enquiry

Send the analyser make and model, method number, sulphate range and units, current kit references and required quantity. Specify whether you need routine reagents, a verification standard or both. Include bottle sizes and documentation requirements so compatibility and availability can be checked.

Does a visibly clear sample remove the need for a blank?

Not automatically. Follow the actual analytical procedure. A visual impression does not replace the method’s blank, verification or quality-control requirements.
