For process-water silica monitoring, the required result is more specific than “silica”. Before ordering reagents online, identify the measured fraction, working range, reporting basis and complete analyser method.
Online Reagents is backed by PMA’s chemical-manufacturing experience of more than 52 years. Send your specification online to discuss suitable supply, availability and quantity before confirming an order.
Check reactive versus total silica
A molybdate-based method can measure a defined reactive silica fraction. It should not automatically be described as a total-silica result. Sample preparation and the approved method determine the scope of the measurement.
Hach’s silica analysis overview describes method choices and measurement considerations. Copy the full method name and required fraction into the enquiry.
Match the process-water range
Low-level process-water monitoring places different demands on a method from a higher-range application. Specify the analyser’s stated range and the concentrations relevant to the monitoring task.
The Online Reagents silica page provides a starting point for discussing suitable reagents and standards. Compatibility must be checked against the actual instrument and programme.
Copy units and reporting basis carefully
Record whether the result is expressed as silicon or as silicon dioxide, commonly written as SiO2. Include the complete concentration units, especially where micrograms and milligrams are involved.
Those labels affect numerical interpretation. Do not substitute a standard solely because its bottle displays a similar number; compare the specification and stated basis.
Specify reagents and standards separately
List every required reagent component and any verification standard as separate items. Provide current references, concentrations or specifications, package sizes and the instrument’s connection requirements.
Follow the manufacturer’s approved changeover and quality-control procedure. A standard checks a defined measurement task; it does not replace the reagent system.
Prepare an efficient online order enquiry
Send the analyser make and model, reactive or other required silica fraction, range, units, method number, existing reagent details and quantity. Include documentation and storage requirements. This lets the supply discussion focus on the correct specification rather than resolving missing information later.
Does the standard value set a boiler-water operating limit?
No. A verification standard and a process operating limit serve different purposes. Operating requirements come from the plant’s approved specification and responsible specialists, not from the concentration selected for an instrument check.
