Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde online analysers are typically used in monitoring effluent from industrial processes such as timber or plastics production.
Using the simple MBTH (3-methyl-2-benzothiazoline hydrazone) colorimetric method, formaldehyde and other aldehydes can be continuously measured.
Excess MBTH undergoes a series of reactions with formaldehyde to form a blue complex proportional to the formaldehyde concentration. This complex can be easily measured with a spectrophotometer.
