Aluminium
Aluminium is a metal and is widely used as a coagulant in water treatment. Typical applications include monitoring aluminium residuals in drinking water, post-clarification aluminium levels in the water treatment process and effluent discharge from industrial processes.
Online aluminium monitors use colorimetry to determine the aluminium concentration in water. Typically, they use Pyrocatechol violet (PCV) chemistry which is free from fluoride interference unlike other colorimetric methods such as Eriochrome R. PMA offers expertise in both colourmetric methods.
The aluminium reacts with the pyrocatechol violet to form an aluminiumpyrocatechol violet complex which has a blue-blueish grey colour which can be quantified for measurement.
